Not Just Platitude

I put a warning at the bottom of each blog entry on stocks of "This blog is meant for educational purposes only, and is not to provide investment advice. Before making any investment decision, you should always do your own research or consult an investment professional."

You should take this seriously. If you want to be a good investor, you must take responsibly for all your investment decision. To make good decisions, you have to research any company or fund you invest in to ensure it is good investment for you. What might be a good investment for me, just may not suit you.

When it comes to investing you need to make your own decisions. You need to be in control of your investing. I think you also need to review what others think of different stocks and why they feel the way they do.

  1. Hi Susan,

Thanks for the reminder for people to use their own common sense. That being said, the knowledge that people like you, and other bloggers I follow, can create a good income stream from their investments gave me the courage to take over responsibility for my own investing and retirement accounts. I am still on a steep learning curve when it comes to company research, however, I am definitely moving forward with the information I read online. I have seen references to mpl newsletters in some of your research and I wondered if you found them helpful when you started out. I currently do subscribe but was curious about your opinion of their research. If there are any other newsletters you may have found helpful in the past, I would appreciate the information.

    Cheers,
    Marypat

    1. Yes, I do like MPL Communications for their independent opinion on stocks. I do subscribe to their free online newsletters. I also like Keystone Publications. I have found that Ryan Irvine of Keystone picks have always been good to great companies. He is sometimes featured in MPL Communication’s Daily Buy and Sell Advisor Newsletter.

The worse seem to be number crunchers. That is where people use a filter to highlight some stocks for particular reasons. They come up with few good companies and lots of duds. There is also a problem with the dividend lists I follow. There are also duds on these lists, so you have to be careful
