Recently there has been articles about marriages where both the man and women work. Sometimes the man makes more money and sometimes the women do. I cannot seem to link the emails on the articles to the articles online for others to read.
Let me tell you about my marriage. I made more than my husband. We split most bills except for groceries and eating out. I paid for the groceries. I did not want any complaints on what I spent. My husband looked after our date nights. He was a salesman working on commission. With his type of job, his commission would vary. So, for eating out, if he was not making much, he was innovative in where we eat. If he had a good commission month, we went to a nice place.
The interesting thing was that his parents thought I got the better deal and my parents though my husband had the better deal. However, it suited us and that is what was important.
I worked in IT and got a good steady salary. My husband was a salesman and his salary would vary. He did not like spending money when he was not earning much. We were very happy with this arrangement. We talked about money and stuff before we decided to live together. I think communication is key.
I was in IT and earnings good money. I was lucky that I went from one job to another, but when you earning good money and lose your job, sometime it takes a while to get another job at the same salary. My husband had a number of different jobs over his career and he would always be able to get work no matter the economic situation.
