One of the best places to look has been on Money Sense and their 100 dividend stocks in Canada. I have always thought that the guy blogging on Dividend Growth Investing and Retirement blog gives good information on Canadian Dividend stocks.
You can also look at Mutual Funds and ETFs and see what they hold. Generally speaking, the banks have some very good Mutual Funds. Mostly you can only see the top 10 stocks in a fund or ETF but that is really what you want in any event.
The best way to make money on the stock market is to buy good companies and hold them. There have been a number of studies to show that investment accounts left alone do better than those that are managed. I have mostly bought over the years. I have seldom ever sold anything.
My first companies were BCE and Bank of Montreal. I bought them in the early 1980’s and I still have them. I prefer dividend growers over high yield. However, I do have some high yield stock that are low growers, like REITs. The reason is diversification.
On my other blog I wrote yesterday about Quebecor Inc (TSX-QBR.B, OTC-QBCRF) ... learn more. Next, I will write about Johnson and Johnson (NYSE-JNJ) ... learn more on Friday, October 30, 2026 around 5 pm.
